Glen Canyon National Recreation Area is a unit of the national parks service. It is located on the border of Arizona and Utah. The park encompasses over 1.25 million acres of land and water. The park offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities including water-sports and hiking. Glen Canyon NRA, as with all national parks units, follows the guidance of the organic act of 1916. "...to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations."
Intern responsibilities:
Manage EMS & SAR supply caches
Learn basic Law Enforcement procedures
Respond to EMS and Fire emergencies
Perform Preventative Search and Rescue and education
Requirements:
Be at least 20 years old
Junior at Texas A&M
Live within 50 miles of College Station
Experience in Emergency services field is helpful but not required
Intern must have desire to learn about emergency services within the Park Service

Glen Canyon is located within the "Grand circle" region with more outdoor recreation opportunities than you could possibly conquer in a summer, including hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, off-roading, boating, kayaking, canyoneering etc.
Grand Canyon NP, Zion NP, Bryce Canyon NP, Canyonlands NP, Capitol reef NP, Arches NP and many more outdoor recreation areas are all within day/weekend driving distance
Achievements:
Receive training in Law Enforcement and Fire response
Gain experience working in emergency services
Gain knowledge and certifications for travel by small aircraft for the federal government
